J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix entertain Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday with the usual 17.30 face off.
This is the last regular season game of the season and normally there is not much at stake. Not at the Dome! Last year we needed the win against Swindon to lift the title. This season, both teams have something to play for. Peterborough need a double win against us to have any chance of reaching the play off quarter finals and we could do with a win to consolidate 2nd place in the league. The game promises to be an exciting tough encounter with a Peterborough side full of talent that has not reached its full potential this season.
Up front they struggled to get goals until Ondrej Lauko came on the scene. The ex-Bison forward has grabbed himself 26 goals in 32 games since he came back to these shores in November and British forward Luke Ferrara hit 22 goals until he was hit by injury, so they are capable of hitting the net.
Phoenix will also have to watch Maris Ziedins, a Phantoms stalwart who has a penchant for scoring cracking long range goals.
Phoenix themselves will want to go into post season play on a roll, especially after their 4 point weekend last time out. Phoenix have found goals a bit harder to come by this season but their impressive home form should see them through. Martin Cingel will want to add to his 37 goal return and Tom Duggan, Phoenix player of the year, needs just four goals to catch Juraj Faith in the scoring charts.
It’s the second last chance to cheer on the lads with only the home quarter final to come next week. The weather has been great, so you must have had enough sunshine. Break out the woolly thermals for the second last time at the Dome this season and cheer on Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, your very own Manchester Phoenix.
