Friday, 28th October 2011

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix have brought in defensive cover for the next 2 weeks to help out their beleaguered blue line corps.

John Connolly, who recently played with the Slough Jets, has agreed to join the club to ease their lack of defensive cover.

The 20 year old Scottish-born defender has been involved in 10 games this season for the Slough Jets and made1 appearance in the Jets’ ENL team.

The young defender has represented GB in the World Junior Championships twice at Under 18 and twice at Under 20 level, picking up the best defender award in 2008 and a full set of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. He also spent two seasons in the Western States Junior A Hockey League with the Texas Renegades who became the New Mexico Renegades in 2009. This was followed by half a season with Edinburgh Capitals and the same with the Braehead Clan before moving to Slough Jets in the latter half of the 2010-2011 season.

MD Neil Morris said: “I would like to thank John for coming in to help us during this injury crisis and would also express my thanks to the Slough Jets organisation for helping us push through his registration quickly. We have a great relationship with the Jets and it is good to have clubs help out in situations such as this.”
