Did you know that Pudsey is an avid fan of ice hockey? Quite amazing considering he isn’t even a polar bear! Pudsey loves it so much that this Sunday 9th November, he is visiting his favourite Ice Hockey team in the bmibaby Elite League the Manchester Phoenix!
To support Pudsey the bmibaby Elite League Team will be wearing special edition, yellow and white, BBC Children In Need playing shirts featuring Pudsey. Each member of the Manchester Phoenix squad will sign their shirts after the game. The signed shirts will then be auctioned on EBay the following week, with all proceeds going to the Children In Need fund.
Pudsey wants the loudest Manchester Phoenix fans to help him raise some much needed cash to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Pudsey, with the help of Children in Need, is building a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential.
With the help of Terry Wogan and dedicated fundraisers throughout the UK, Pudsey managed to raise £37 million for the BBC Children in Need Appeal in 2007. Thanks to the record breaking amount of money raised last year through public donations and the amazing efforts of fundraisers, schools and businesses, Pudsey has been able to help support thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under.
Pudsey is bringing his fundraising friends from BBC Manchester to encourage Phoenix fans to get involved with Children In Need! BBC Manchester will be sponsoring Sunday’s game against the Sheffield Steelers and want you to get involved! So go on have your picture taken with Pudsey and the Menace! Watch Pudsey take on the Menace in our ON ICE game and help raise money for Children in Need 2008.
