MacMillan won't play this weekend

Friday, 30th November 2007

Manchester Phoenix will take on both the Edinburgh Capitals and Hull Stingrays this weekend without the services of defenceman Jeff MacMillan. MacMillan was injured at the start of the third period two weeks ago when the Phoenix travelled to Cardiff and is still receiving treatment.

A Phoenix spokesperson commented on Friday morning, "Jeff hasn't trained this week while still receiving treatment on his injured leg. We had hoped he might be ready, but he's not and so he won't travel to Edinburgh on Saturday, and will again assist Davey Graham on the Phoenix bench on Sunday."

Despite last weekend's encouraging victory over the Sheffield Steelers, Phoenix are under no illusions that both games this weekend will be tough encounters. Phoenix player coach Tony Hand noted, "Edinburgh despite some disappointing results have some excellent players and have had some notable wins this season, like their recent win over Coventry. Hull too have shown they come to compete and with a new player in their line-up, they'll be boosted by the extra body and be keen to reverse their fortunes of late."
