Phoenix take to the air with bmibaby this weekend

Friday, 14th September 2007

Manchester Phoenix will be in the air early on Saturday morning for their first visit of the season to the Belfast Giants.

Phoenix will make the one-hour flight from Manchester to Belfast International courtesy of bmibaby, the airline with tiny fares, who are the headline sponsor of the bmibaby Elite Ice Hockey League.

And Thursday afternoon saw Phoenix players Nick Whyatt and Carl Graham enjoy the opportunity to meet with bmibaby flight crew and pose for photographs with them and a gleaming bmibaby aircraft on the tarmac at Manchester.

Carl Graham noted, "It's fantastic that the league has a sponsorship deal from a company like bmibaby, they're a household name and I can't wait to fly with them this weekend.

Nick Whyatt added, "The staff were so friendly to us when we got the airport, and to actually get on the tarmac with the plane and the girls was a great opportunity for us to show off our team and highlight bmibaby."

A Phoenix spokesperson remarked, "it's not just the team that benefit from this arrangement with bmibaby, the supporters do to. They can follow the Phoenix to Belfast with bmibaby from as little as £18.99 one way including taxes and that's value for money in anybodies book."
