Manchester Phoenix are pleased to announce another returnee for season 2007-08 in the shape of KC 'The Chief' Timmons.
Nicknamed 'the Chief' as a reference to his native North American heritage, KC Timmons proved a very popular figure with Phoenix fans with his easy-going attitude off the ice and a ready willingness to play anywhere to help the team on the ice.
Phoenix player coach Tony Hand noted, "KC is a good team guy as he'll help out anyway he can. Last season when we ran into a few defensive injuries, he readily dropped back to help out and he didn't look out of place at all. He's a real good guy in the room as he's a relaxed personality, but he's not afraid to stand up for himself if called upon. He's got good size, and I know if asked to, he'll play just about anywhere."
Originally from Victoria in British Columbia, the 27-year old, left shot winger was a 5th round draft selection of the Colorado Avalanche in 1998 when playing in the Western Hockey league for the Tri-City Americans. Last season in 60 appearances for the Phoenix he tallied 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points and sitting out 97 penalty minutes.
Commenting on his re-signing for the Phoenix, KC noted, "I really liked Manchester, practically from the moment I got there as the club went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It was a tough year with not getting the home rink ready till the end of February and I think to some degree we didn't do ourselves justice. I was pleased when Tony called as I wanted to come back and I'm excited already. I hope I can repay his faith and the fans support for me by helping the team really challenge for honours."
Phoenix are holding a major fan event on Sunday July 1st in the Sports Cafe on Quay Street in city-centre Manchester. Together with up-to-date reports on the club from MD Neil Morris and GM Andy Costigan, Head Coach Tony Hand will be present to outline the up-to-date recruiting news and to announce the very latest player signing news live. Up and coming local singer/songwriter Garron Frith will also be performing two live sets of his latest music in advance of releasing his first album/CD. Tickets for this event are £9.99 and can be booked through the club offices on 0161-301 6848.
