Manchester Phoenix forward Joe Miller is making steady progress after having to sit out most of the bmibaby Elite League Boxing Day victory over the Newcastle Vipers.
Cardiff-born Miller received a slight concussion after a collision with Vipers Jason Robinson and on the advice of the doctor, took no further part in the game. Phoenix were already shorthanded missing Tony Hand and Robin Gomez, and the loss of Miller meant further adjustment to the playing formation.
Miller commented on Wednesday evening, “I’m still feeling a little groggy, but much better than I did at the end of the first period yesterday. The doctor told me what to do – rest and take a regular intake of fluid - and I’ve been doing just that. Adam Radmall has been checking on me all day, so even if I’d wanted to do anything else, Rads would have stopped me.”
Asked if he thought he would be ready to train later in the week Joe added, “I’ve not got any headache, so another day of rest should see me a whole lot better. I hate sitting watching games, so I’ll be doing my best to be ready for Sunday and the return against Newcastle in Deeside.”
Phoenix host the MobilX Newcastle Vipers in the bmibaby Elite League on New Years Eve at the Deeside Leisure Centre with face-off at 1.30pm in the afternoon.
