Tony Hand M.B.E., the Manchester Storm and Silver Blades Ice Rinks would like to announce they are holding a one-off All Star game on the 10th June 2017 with all proceeds going to the fund set up for families of the victims of the Manchester Arena bomb attack.
The games will be between a Manchester Legends team, featuring players from the Manchester Storm and Manchester Phoenix, and a UK All Star team, featuring players from clubs throughout the UK. Both teams will be wearing specially designed playing shirts which will be auctioned off after the game in order to raise additional money.
The teams will be coached by Tony Hand and Ryan Finnerty, the newly appointed Head Coach of the Manchester Storm
Tony Hand MBE said;
“Manchester is a very special city and I know that I am not the only one that is devastated by recent events. Over the past few days players and hockey fans have contacted me to see if there is anything that the sport of Ice Hockey could do to show support for the city of Manchester. I spoke to the guys at Silver Blades who were very supportive of the idea and we agreed an Ice Hockey game to raise funds for victims of the Manchester Arena bomb attack was the best option.”
“Over the next few days I will be contacting everybody I know to ask for their support and looking to recruit a fantastic selection of players. As well as Phoenix and Storm players I will be asking players from the other clubs based out of Silver Blades Altrincham to play as I think it is important that all of Manchester Ice Hockey is represented”, Tony continued.
Neil Russell, Storm GM, added;
“The heart of the Storm is the fantastic Manchester community and it is essential that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Manchester to show our support. It is important the two great Ice Hockey clubs of Manchester show solidarity and come together to host what will be a fantastic tribute to the city of Manchester and which we hope will raise some much-appreciated funds for the victims of the recent tragic event at the Manchester Arena”.
The game will take place on Saturday 10th June 2017 with faceoff at 7:30pm. Further information will be released over the next few days and tickets will be priced at £10 adults and £5 children. Please share this article on your social media and bring along as many friends and family as you can, so we can raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause.
