Phil Hamer back with the Phoenix

Thursday, 31st December 2015

The Manchester Phoenix is pleased to announce that forward Phil Hamer has re-joined the Phoenix for the rest of the season.

The 25 year old progressed through the Manchester Phoenix youth system and went onto make his debut for the club in the Elite League during the 2007-08 season.  Hamer went onto make eight appearances during two seasons with the Phoenix, before moving abroad and playing ice hockey in Spain.

Phil has also been a regular member of the GB inline team, appearing alongside Phoenix forward James Archer, including at last summer’s World Championships in Finland, where GB claimed a bronze medal.

Phoenix Coach Tony Hand commented: “We’ve been struggling with injuries recently, and we can’t afford to ice only two forward lines for the rest of the season at this level.  Phil knows what it takes to be successful – he’s been training with us for the last few weeks and I’m confident that he’ll contribute a great deal to the team.”

Phil added: “It’s great to finally be back with the Phoenix – it’s always the club I’ve wanted to play for since junior level.  I’ve been pursuing a number of other interests including inline hockey in the last few years, but I felt now was the right time to return to the Phoenix.”

The Phoenix is also hoping to announce a new import player tomorrow, to strengthen the squad.
