Manchester Phoenix captain Luke Boothroyd has assured fans that the entire playing squad is fully behind the creation of a new Supporters Trust.
To help fund the team for the remainder of the season and guarantee the club’s return to Manchester, the Phoenix have created a new Supporters Trust, with contributions already beginning to arrive at Phoenix HQ.
Luke commented: “The fans have always been there for us and it’s amazing to see their commitment to the club. It’s hugely appreciated by the players and we all love being part of this club.
“The guys always stay positive and there’s been a great spirit in the dressing room all season. Whatever is thrown at us as a club, we prepare the same way and we’re focused on winning games.”
On the ice, Luke has simply been happy to contribute this season: “I missed a large chunk of last season through injury, which is unusual for me as I’ve hardly missed any games during my whole career. This season has been a new challenge for many of the players, but the younger guys are taking advantage of additional ice time and getting used to different game situations.”
With plans shaping up for a return to Manchester, Luke couldn’t be happier: “As a group, we’ve been kept informed of the rink’s progress – Neil and the backroom staff know how to keep the team running and we’re confident that once we get through this season, we can look forward to a bright future.
“Our aim is to finish as high as we can and give ourselves the best opportunity to reach Coventry, which I know is what all the fans want.
“I’d encourage anyone, including my family and friends, to invest in the Supporters Trust and keep this club alive.”
