The 31-year-old, who was a draft pick for Edmonton Oilers in 2002, collected 76 points in the English Premier League last season.
He will join a squad that includes stalwarts Stephen Fone and James Archer, with coach Tony Hand already planning for a renewed tilt at the EPL title.
And with the Phoenix having released plans for a new arena in Manchester city centre, Hand will demand an immediate return to winning ways.
He said: “Robin is another player who I wanted to keep when I started planning next season’s squad. His contribution to our title win twelve months ago was crucial, and I expect him to play a similar role in our new home.“Overall, he has scored 154 points in 100 league games for us, which is a great return. He helped us to the play-off final and British Challenge Cup final last season, both of which were fantastic achievements.“The players we're talking to really are top-level guys, which will make the upcoming season extremely exciting for everybody involved with Manchester Phoenix.”
Kovar’s record over the last two seasons will have placed him on the radar of many leading clubs, both in the EPL and Elite League.
But his faith in remaining with the Phoenix means he will be at the heart of Hand’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
“Robin is an extremely important player for us and knows all about the plans we have for next year,” Hand said.
“This feels like a new start for the club, with a very exciting twelve months ahead of us. Keeping guys like Robin, James and Foney will give us that vital consistency for a title challenge.”
