Sledge Hockey returns!

Monday, 13th May 2013

With many people feeling a little glum as the regular hockey season has ended... Those long bleak weekends with nothing to fill the void... We here at the Manchester Phoenix can offer you a ray of sunshine to lighten those post season blues! Sledge Hockey is making a return to the Ice Dome on May 25th!

The Manchester Phoenix will be launching their inaugural league campaign as the Planet Ice Sledge Hockey League is set to start! The Phoenix have a tough task, not only is it heir first full season but they are in the top tier against last years winners, The Kingston Kestrels, and potential favourites for the title, The Peterborough Phantoms!

The Phoenix boast GB players, looking to get their game honed to perfection for their assault on Paralympic qualification, and everyone has been working flat out since the last exhibition games last year to prepare to take on the Sledge Hockey worlds best this season!

So how close will it be? Well in previous years the Kingston Kestrels where the team to beat, and they will want to defend their crown, but Peterborough have really upped their game and with some new additions look like a very strong contender as well. But the Phoenix have recruited and trained as well and are looking to make a statement this year.

With the EPL and Junior teams capturing silverware this season... Can the Sledge team add to the trophy haul? Only time will tell! So circle May 25th in your diary, Face off is 4pm, with the whole tournament lasting 4pm-8pm... It's FREE entry, so what excuse do you have not to come to the rink?!?!?

Don’t forget if you wan to try the sport as well, we have sessions in Widnes and Altrincham, with 4 weeks FREE and open to everyone, able bodies and disabled players, get in touch to find out more by emailing sledge@manchesterphoenix.co.uk.

See you at the rink!
