Netminder Stephen Fone will go into hospital for surgery in the next couple of days.
His injury has not responded to treatment and, after taking advice from his consultant, he will go under the knife to sort the problem.
The 25yr old from Rotherham first iced for Phoenix in the 2007-08 season on loan for 3 games and joined the club in their first season in the English Premier League in 2009. The following year he backstopped the club to the EPL championship and was elected to the starting netminder position in the All Star Team. Since then Stephen has been one of the best netminders in the EPL.
It is hoped that he will be back for the play-offs but the club will be guided by the experts as to when he can resume in Phoenix colours.
It is a blow to the club but, as always, a player’s health is paramount and it was felt necessary to take this course of action.
All at the club wish Stephen a speedy and full recovery
