J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix entertain the Swindon Wildcats in an English Premier League game on Sunday with the usual 1730hrs face off.
This will be Swindon’s second of three regular season visits and they will be looking for their first win against Phoenix this season. The first meeting in September produced fireworks and nine goals with the home side coming out 5-4 victors.
Swindon are a team full of goals with forwards Aaron Nell on 16 goals and Jonas Hoog on 15. These two are ably supported by Michal Kapicka and Mattias Perkio. They have been shipping goals however, and recently strengthened their defensive unit by signing giant Czech blueliner Tomas Fojtik. The physical side of things is normally dished out by Nicky Watt, as seen by his scrap with James Archer in the first game.
Phoenix, with Tony Hand back at the helm after his successful trip to Japan with the GB Squad, will be looking to extend the best home run in the league which currently stands at 8 games. Goals are coming from all three lines with Joachim Flaten (14) and Michal Psurny (13) top scoring for the team at the moment. It is not just these two finding the net though as the whole team is contributing to this season’s efforts.
Phoenix travel to Milton Keynes on Saturday, prior to the match up with the Wildcats, looking for a better result than their heavy defeat very early in the season.
Coach Hand said prior to the weekend’s games: “It is another tough weekend for us, but we have had a good week of training and are focussed on good results. It is always difficult in Milton Keynes but we are a match for any team and go there in good spirits. Swindon are a free scoring side and we will have to be on our guard on Sunday if we are to continue our great run of home results. The fans have been great all season and their encouragement is a real boost to the team.”
Swindon games are always full of goals and the odd physical engagement. This will not be a game for the faint hearted. Make sure you are there shouting loud and proud, as you always do, for Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, Manchester Phoenix.
