J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix entertain the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday 30th September with the usual face off at 1730hrs.
The home side will be looking to make it two wins out of two against the Wiltshire side after winning a close encounter on penalty shots in the first game of the season.
Swindon have lost all four games so far in the league but are certainly playing better than their league position indicates.
Netminder Dean Skinns has been playing well and has certainly been unlucky not to pick up a win so far. However it is their offence that Phoenix will have to watch very carefully. Aaron Nell, Wildcats’ captain for this season, has continued where he left off last year with 5 goals already. He is ably assisted by linemate Jonas Hoog who, although only scoring twice himself, has 6 assists. At the back Jan Melichar steadily patrols the blue line, as he has done for many seasons now.
The Phoenix first line of Joaquim Flaten, Tony Hand and Michal Psurny clicked against Telford last week, scoring all the points, and they will be keen to perform again for the home faithful.
Coach Hand had this to say about the coming weekend: “Every game against the Steeldogs is a tough one these days but we are going into the game with confidence and belief. Joaquim and Michal are bedding in well and will be looking to build on their good performance last Sunday. Swindon gave us a tough game a couple of weeks ago and will no doubt do so again. We are looking for a productive weekend and the points.”
Phoenix are making a shed load of chances, have upped the physical side of their game and are a thoroughly entertaining side to watch. Get yourself down to the Dome on Sunday to show your support for Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, Manchester Phoenix.
If you cannot wait until Sunday to see your heroes, you can join the hordes that will be crossing the Pennines on Friday evening for our first league encounter with the Steeldogs. No doubt they will be eager to show off the Roses trophy they won in pre- season so we will just have to bring the league points back home with us. Face off at Ice Sheffield is 1945hrs.
