J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on the Basingstoke Bison on Sunday at the Altrincham Ice Dome in a vital English Premier League game.
Last time the Bison dropped in, they took the points back to Hampshire with them after a comfortable 3-0 win. Phoenix will be looking to avenge that defeat against a strong, physical team.
Bison are having an up and down season but, when they find form, they are formidable opponents. A couple to look out for are sniper Viktor Kubenko, who came back to the club at the beginning of October, and the evergreen Steve Moria. Kubenko certainly knows where the net is and the Phoenix rearguard will have to be at their best to keep him quiet. Player coach Moria still has all the skills he has shown UK hockey fans for many, many years. Watch out for the oldest face off match up in hockey if Tony Hand is fit for the game. The two centres will have over 90 years between their sticks.
Phoenix are slowly getting their injured players back on track and Jaroslav Spelda is getting back up to speed after his long lay-off.
Games between the two clubs are always entertaining and fans will be on the edge of their seats in what promises to be a physical, entertaining match up.
Fed up of Xmas shopping already? Take Sunday evening off and get down to the Dome for a 1730hrs face of and watch Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, Manchester Phoenix.
