Phoenix took the lead on 12 mins when Tony Hand released Juraj Faith and he roofed it high left of Ryan's goal. Phoenix hit penalty trouble as first Boothroyd then Harabin were sent to the box and Henry equalised on the 5 on 3 . The period ended with no further score.
7 minutes into the second period Faith nearly put Phoenix in front with a wrister from the left circle. Fone had to be alert on 30 minutes to save a slapshot from the blueline. Tony Hand hit the post a minute later as Phoenix upped the pressure. The period ended with a great double save from Fone to keep the score at 1-1.
10 minutes gone in the third and it is all Phoenix with Declan Ryan stopping everything. With 5 minutes left Ryan brought off another great save. Phoenix callled a time out with 2 minutes left to marshall the troops but the period ended with no further score and the game went to overtime.
Slava Koulikov went to the box on a holding call leaving Phoenix a man down for the last two minutes. Tony Hand and Tom Duggan could have won it at the death but the game went to penalties.
Telford scored two out of three but Phoenix missed through Koulakov and Wallace to lose the extra point.
A three point weekend for Phoenix. Coach Hand said: " I have to be happy with three points. it is early days and we are getting there. All credit to Telford they battled hard all night"
