Phoenix sign Joe Miller from Phantoms

Friday, 28th January 2011

Joe Miller will be back in a Manchester Phoenix shirt this weekend.

The 25-year-old British forward has been snapped up by player-coach Tony Hand after he parted company with Peterborough Phantoms.

Miller is the fourth top British goalscorer in the English Premier League with 18 from 34 games and has been brought in to boost the club’s bid to bring some silverware to Altrincham.

“It all happened pretty quickly,” said Hand.

“Joe parted with Peterborough and we felt we needed to bring someone in.

“We are in the last stretch of the season and you never know what’s going to happen.

“Joe’s a quality player and there’s no doubt he’s going to help us.”

Miller first played for Phoenix in 2006 in Tony Hand’s first season on their return to the Elite League.

But he was short on experience and played for just one season before moving to the Phantoms.

Club owner Neil Morris said: “We needed somebody and Joe’s been here before so we know what we’re getting.

“There have been other teams after him but he wanted to come back to Manchester and we were his first choice.

“We are doing everything we possibly can to bring some silverware to Manchester.

“We are pulling in every favour. We’ve got the full backing of the supporters club and they are doing their best to raise funds behind us.”
