Without wishing to tempt fate in terms of the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie next Saturday in Hull against the Stingrays, Manchester Phoenix officials have pencilled in a date for a possible semi-final tie with the Newcastle Vipers.
In the event that the Phoenix do progress to a semi-final tie with the Newcastle Vipers, the dates for the two legs will be as follows…
Newcastle Vipers vs Manchester Phoenix - Wednesday February 18th at Whitley Bay, face-off at 7.00pm
Manchester Phoenix vs Newcastle Vipers - Thursday February 26th at Altrincham, face-off at 7.15pm
Phoenix GM Andy Costigan noted, “We’ll take a 4-0 lead to Hull next weekend to face a Stingrays side that continue to spring surprises. They’ve had encouraging wins in Nottingham, Cardiff and Newcastle recently and therefore, cannot be taken lightly. But, with the club facing a potential fixture scheduling crisis if we qualify for both the Knockout and Challenge Cups, we needed to provide the league with a date for a potential semi-final with the Vipers.”
