Manchester Phoenix will go into the weekend's games with their full quota of import players for the first time this season following the arrival of Kenton Smith and Luke Fulghum.
Canadian Smith, formerly with the Charlotte Checkers in the East Coast Hockey League and American Fulghum, formerly with the Elmira Jackals also of the ECHL are the last of the Phoenix eleven import players to join up with the squad.
Both had suffered delays in receiving their entry visas, but all issues have successfully been resolved and both players are keen to get down to business on the ice.
Kenton Smith remarked, "I'm just so pleased to finally be here. The process of applying for my visa took me a little by surprise as I wasn't sure of all the procedure to be followed but, all's well that ends well. I'm eager to now get going and make up for lost time. I'm also relieved that the team got off to a winning start despite my not being here. I actually called Andy during Sunday's game just as the penalty shootout was beginning and he told me about the win on Saturday and then called me back with the result of the shootout."
Phoenix travel to Basingstoke on Saturday for a 6.30pm face-off against the Bison before returning home to Altrincham on Sunday for a 5.30pm start against the Nottingham Panthers.
A club spokesperson noted, "We have a doubt over Carl Graham for the coming weekend as he suffered a big bruising to his face in last Sunday's game against Newcastle. Other than Carl though, we'll be at full strength and with Kenton bolstering the defence and Luke adding to the offensive lines, we'll go into both games looking for victories. Neither game will be easy but, we've got off to a good start and that will help our confidence."
