Hamer happy to change shirt number

When Phil Hamer agreed terms with the Manchester Phoenix, he requested shirt number 17... when veteran defenceman Dwight Parrish signed, Hamer happily relinquished the number in favour of the American blueliner.

“Dwight wore 17 when he played for the Phoenix in the first season and when asked, I was happy to let him have it again,” noted the Salford born prospect. “I’ve chosen 87 now, hopefully nobody else will want that one,” he joked. “It’s only June, but I’m getting excited about things already. The team looks to be taking shape nicely, I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
