Phoenix Awards Evening results

Manchester Phoenix held their Annual Awards Evening on Thursday night to celebrate the players and their achievements this season, and to send them into the playoffs in good heart.

Over two hundred Phoenix supporters and sponsors packed into the Belgravia Suite at the Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham to enjoy the evening where the players are honoured for their efforts throughout the season.

The event, sponsored by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, was a resounding success with eight awards interspersed with prize auctions and raffle draws, and each award preceded in true Oscars fashion by video clips and music before the winners’ names were revealed.

A club spokesperson commented, “The team have battled hard all season long and tonight is the chance for the fans to pay tribute to their heroes. It also afforded the players a relaxed evening ahead of the playoff weekend when they go head to head with the Sheffield Steelers for the right to go to the Playoff Finals weekend in Nottingham.”

Phoenix captain Scott Basiuk added, “Our fans have been awesome all year. Everywhere we go, they’re there cheering us on and tonight is as much for them as it is for the players receiving awards. We just want to go out now and do our utmost to get them to the Finals along with the team.”
