Deal done – Parrish signs for Phoenix

Friday, 11th July 2003

Barely two days have passed since Manchester Phoenix head coach Rick Brebant returned from North America and today he announces another signing for the club.

American defenceman Dwight Parrish has agreed terms with the club for the coming season and Brebant is delighted that the negotiations have gone so well. He commented, “I was hopeful Dwight would agree to come back to Manchester from the moment I first spoke to him, he is a quality player both on and off the ice. I’m delighted that we have done this deal. Dwight is an experienced player who has proven himself in this country playing for Cardiff and Manchester previously. He’s a good skater, a solid blueliner and when he joins the rush, possesses a good shot.”

Speaking from upstate Michigan where he is helping run summer hockey schools 31-year old Parrish noted, “I like Manchester very much and to be a part of a new club there will be very special. I talked with Rick a few weeks ago and his passion for the game is pretty compelling. He was a winner as a player and I’m sure he’ll translate that into his coaching career. We’ve talked again since, Rick has outlined some of his planning to me and I’m very happy to join his Phoenix revolution in Manchester. The fans are great and I’m sure the new team will give them all something to cheer about.”

Boosted by the signing of Dwight Parrish, Brebant advised that negotiations with a new player to Manchester are proceeding well and, “fingers crossed, we could be making an exciting new addition to our roster very soon.”

Rick Brebant will make a personal appearance at the Manchester Phoenix Fan Forum meeting this evening (Friday July 11th) at 7.30pm in Manchester Town Hall.
