J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix really do believe in their catchphrase “Keep the Faith” as they are pleased to announce the capture of top Slovakian forward Juraj Faith.
The very experienced 35 year old has had a glittering career in the Slovakian Extraliga, one of the top 5 leagues in Europe, including captaining Košice to the championship.
Juraj started his hockey career in his home town of Košice before spending the next couple of years in the Slovakian second division with Michalovce to gain experience. He was called up to the senior Košice squad over 40 times in the next two seasons as his career took off.
He then moved to Mulhouse in the French second division where he helped them to promotion and iced for a further 2 seasons in the Magnus league before a season in the DEL with Freiburg.
Juraj returned back to his homeland in 2004, playing two years at Poprad before the lure of his home club took him back to Kosice. Two seasons of averaging over a point a game in the top league was topped off by a championship win in 2008.
The talented forward brings the tremendous experience of skill and leadership gained in the 5th best league in Europe to Phoenix and will surely be a big fan favourite of the “faith”ful.
Coach Hand said of Juraj: “I am delighted to have him on board. His pedigree speaks for itself. He comes very highly recommended and having been a captain of a championship winning team, and on-ice leader, can only benefit the whole squad. He shows up every night and plays hard if required and I am he sure will play a big part in our efforts to retain the championship.”
