PHOENIX have agreed to release fiery third-line forward Dean Holland.
And the 22-year-old Geordie has returned to his home town club Newcastle Vipers.
Phoenix player coach Tony Hand said: “Dean wants to go back home to Newcastle and we are not going to stand in his way.
“I don’t think he’s settled and the travelling, combined with his work as a mechanic, was getting to him.
“He moved here but I think his heart was in Newcastle.
“So good luck to the lad and we wish him all the best.”
Holland joined Phoenix from the Vipers and he was the first player to sign up in the summer.
Hand is now looking for a replacement to join a Phoenix side riding high after winning their first four games of the season.
“We’ll have a look and see what’s out there,” said Hand.
“But there’s no rush. We’ll take our time and make sure we find the right man for this club.”
