Manchester Phoenix defenceman Omar Ennaffati is the last of this seasons squad to leave Manchester, due to having to meet with the Hungarian president.
At the end of the domestic British season, Ennaffati joined up with the Hungarian national team for their World Championship campaign in Japan and the Toronto-born blueliner played his part as Hungary won the group and promotion to the world elite - Pool A.
Due to return to Manchester last Monday, Ennaffati arrives back on Friday and will leave for Canada on Sunday. "I had to phone the club on Monday to see if my flights back to Toronto could be changed," commented the Hungarian international. "Since getting back from Japan, the reaction in Hungary has been incredible. I had to stay behind as we've met with the president, been on TV and there's been a lot of other media attention and public appearances."
Promotion to Pool A means next year Hungary, and Ennaffati if selected, will face off against the worlds best in the shape of the likes of Sweden, Canada, Russia, USA, Czech Republic and Finland. He added, "We went out to Japan confident, but to win the group and gain promotion was a fantastic achievement for us, and hopefully, I'll be part of the squad again next year."
