Power forward Brett Clouthier re-signs

Sunday, 1st July 2007

Size, muscle, strength and a surprising eye for goal is what Brett Clouthier brought to the Manchester Phoenix roster last year... and as of Sunday evenings announcement at the Sports Cafe in Manchester, he'll be bringing those attributes again when the new bmibaby Elite League season begins in September.

Phoenix coach Tony Hand commented, "Brett has a respected reputation as a tough enforcer, he's a very big man and he can certainly look after himself. However after he joined us last year, we saw plenty of the other side of him. He works as hard as anyone and is prepared to go to the net where things get dirty and rough. He's not one dimensional as his points tally last season proves, he's a great character in the locker room and the fans really took to him, I'm very pleased he agreed to come back."

Brett Clouthier is a big man as measurements of standing 6ft 5ins and weighing 220lbs testify. In 23 appearances for the Phoenix last season, the left shot winger recorded 6 goals and 14 assists for 20 points with 105 minutes in penalties. Never afraid of the physical side of the game, Clouthier will act as the Phoenix policeman on the ice, the player who, if called upon will keep the opposition players honest.

The 26-year old from Ottawa noted, "The Phoenix was a good fit for me in the second half of last season and I was happy when Tony gave a call and offered me the opportunity to come back. I like the city, the organisation is good and the fans were terrific to me. Tony and I have spoken about how he sees things and he wants me to play as well as play a role. That suits me as I know I have more to offer other than just the obvious. I know that role and though I don't look for trouble, taking care of my team mates is something I've always done and if people try to take liberties, I'll do it again."
