The GM's review

Monday, 30th October 2006

Are we up or are we down?  This is the question we need to ask ourselves following this weekend just gone.  We're no doubt up from the win in Belfast and the progression into the Challenge Cup semi-finals draw and no doubt, we're a little bit down after two overtime losses.

But, given all the circumstances - the one thing we should be is proud of our team. We're the first this season to have to play three-in-three and to take take a win and two points from two long road trips and a home game against a fully rested team is a tremendous achievement.

As I write this, we're awaiting confirmation of a couple of fixture changes and as soon as we have them, we'll publish them via the web site and matchnight programme - don't panic, they don't affect any home games. Because of the situation Cardiff find themselves in with the delayed development of their new building, the bmibaby Elite League are trying to switch some of their home games to later in the season. And given the backlog they could well be looking at, they could be playing four times a week come the turn of the year.

As you know, we lost David Vychodil on Saturday and Sunday and we've had another couple of injuries this past week too, but in time honoured fashion, we won't disclose the exact nature of them - suffice to say though it made the results last weekend even more impressive.

Coventry this coming weekend, and in a reversal to normal, it's the home game on Saturday with face-off at 7.00pm in Deeside ahead of the Sunday trip to the Skydome on Bonfire Night. If you're thinking of making the trip to Coventry on Sunday, be aware of the amount of roadworks on the M6 and make allowances for a potentially longer than normal journey.

I'm down that way later in the week on business, so I'll try and bring an update on traffic hold-ups via the forum Thursday or Friday.

Enjoy the week and here's to a a double-header against the Blaze next weekend.

Cheers,

AC
