Phoenix Managing Director Neil Morris met with senior personnel of Ice Associates on Wednesday for an update on the schedule for the new Altrincham Ice Dome.
Morris stated, “It was routine meeting to clarify exactly where we are in relation to the new schedule agreed in early September. We had a very constructive meeting, a number of points were discussed at length and I’m pleased to confirm that our projected completion date of the end of November remains intact and on schedule.”
Morris continued, “the contractors have had any number of hurdles to overcome and still a few more to tackle but, the revised schedule is not being compromised. As everyone knows, the original completion date was September 24th, but the issues of contamination etcetera at the site forced the delay we’re all now working with.”
Ice Associates are also handling the similar temporary ice rink construction in Cardiff being funded by Cardiff Council. Phoenix understand that the Cardiff development has also hit some snags and that the projected completion date of October 20th in South Wales is now unlikely to be met.
A Phoenix spokesperson commented, “Everyone hopes the delays in Cardiff can be overcome as quickly as possible. It is indeed unfortunate that the new home rinks for two clubs in the bmibaby.com Elite League are affected in this way but, we’ll keep on with our aims and aspirations to occupy our respective new facilities as quickly as possible.”
