Walker enjoying Elite League experience

Thursday, 5th October 2006

Manchester Phoenix forward Adam Walker is pleased he made the move to Manchester and the chance to play in the bmibaby.com Elite League.

Twenty-year old Adam commented, “It’s a big step to play in the Elite League but I’m feeling a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be and things are going pretty well so far. We coming together as a squad and I think results will get better for us.”

Speaking after the Phoenix had tied 2-2 with Belfast in the first leg of their Challenge Cup tie, Walker added, “the win in Newcastle was a big win for us after only the one win previously and the shoot-out loss to Edinburgh. Two of the other games we lost only by the odd goal so the result on Saturday was a good one. Tonight against Belfast, I thought we should have won the game. We made a number of good openings but a couple of times the bounces didn’t go our way – we’ll take the draw to Belfast though, it’s only half time so to speak and I think they’ll know we’ll give them a game over there.2

Walker is enjoying a blossoming partnership with Joe Miller and he puts that down to previous experience with the Welshman. “We’re doing all right, we seem to be reading each other quite well. I’ve played with Joe before on Great Britain teams so, we know a bit about each other anyway. As the weeks have gone on, we’re gelling better together and I think things will only get better for us and the Phoenix.”
