Manchester Phoenix received confirmation late last Friday that their contractors can at last take possession of the site in Altrincham where the new ice rink is to be built.
With the initial ground testing on the Oakfield Road site duly completed, Phoenix MD Neil Morris completed all the final paperwork last week and received the word that was music to his ears.
“Having signed the final documentation,” he commented, “We’ve now got the green light to enter the site in earnest and begin the work that will bring about a new ice rink for the area. To start with the site will be fenced and secured, and then it’s a case of the contractors and engineers doing what they do best.”
Morris added, “I expect things to progress steadily now that we’ve got access to the site and given the nature of the construction process advised by the Finnish company Kevythalli Oy, it should not be too long before the structure begins to take shape.”
Representatives of the Finnish company visited Morris last week and confirmed that all aspects of the new rink are on schedule. Morris noted, “Kevythalli have been very pro-active in ensuring that the design we requested and the build times we need will be met. They have been very thorough throughout and now we look forward to seeing the building materialise.”
