Manchester Phoenix welcomed back James Archer for the trip to the Guildford Flames on Saturday night, and were able to ice a full strength team for the first time in several weeks.
Archer wasted no time in making an impression on the game as he opened the scoring at 1:06, with a superb goal after being set up by Robin Kovar. Former Phoenix favourite Marcus Kristoffersson levelled shortly after at 2:48 before a Powerplay goal from Matic Kralj at 5:12 put Guildford in front at the end of the first period.
Andrew Hemmings netted the only goal of the second period for Guildford at 32:28 as Phoenix netminder Steve Fone produced 13 saves to keep the visitors in the game.
Phoenix were firmly back in the game when Jacob Corson-Heron was set up by Stanislav Gron at 43:30 to make it 3-2. However, Guildford sealed the win with three goals from Ben Campbell (46:26), Andy McKinney (48:03) and Lee Esders (53:03) to confirm a well-deserved home win.
Phoenix are back in action tomorrow night as they host Guildford in Deeside with a 6:30pm face-off.
