Manchester Phoenix will reveal plans to secure the English Premier League club’s future next week, during a public meeting in the city centre.
The Phoenix Organisation will host an event on Wednesday 10th June 2015 at the Mercure Hotel in Piccadilly at 7.30pm. Supporters are invited to put questions to a panel, who will also be unveiling a brand-new player signing. Red Hockey CEO, Wayne Scholes will also join the meeting via a video link.
Mr Morris said: “This event is intended to give The Faithful a chance to find out how this great club of ours is now secure for the future. That is what everybody wants to know. It’s been a difficult summer, of course, but now we can look forward with confidence. Tony has been building a great squad over the last few months, and that will continue with our latest signing.”
Supporters will hear from Head Coach Tony Hand MBE and have the opportunity to meet squad members of the 2015/16 EPL team. And members of the “Double Winning” Manchester Phoenix Ladies team will be there to celebrate, along with members of Manchester Phoenix sledge Hockey team.
Paul Baker, Director of Red Hockey, is delighted that Manchester can now plan for the future.
He said: “This meeting is intended to give fans of Manchester’s English Premier Ice Hockey League team as much information about next season as possible. I don’t believe fans are interested in hearing about the Phoenix from a rink operator who has got nothing to do with the club. The idea of holding a public forum would suggest that they have influence over our decisions and future. The fact is, they don’t. This event will give details about next season’s home rink, as well as any special travel deals for supporters. I am so happy that at last, Manchester Phoenix have secured their future. It is going to be a massive relief for fans.”
The club will also be launching a competition to design next season’s playing shirt as well as exclusive offers on merchandise.
Mr Morris added: “I want fans to see this meeting as a celebration of ice hockey in Manchester, and of the season to come. The competition is an opportunity for supporters, young and old, to influence how we look on the ice. That way, they can feel like an even bigger part of the club."
