Phoenix forward Jason Hewitt is overcoming a foot injury to be fit to face the Belfast Giants on Saturday in the Odyssey Arena. The 20-year old former Altrincham Aces player who has made a big impression in his debut season in the Elite League sat out the third period of Sunday’s 5-2 home loss to the Sheffield Steelers after having ice-pack treatment to his right foot.
Hewitt took the advice of the club physio and doctor to miss the remainder of the game. “They both told me that I could make it worse and reluctantly I sat out. A couple of days rest and more ice pack treatment will help as I want to be ready to play in Belfast on Saturday.”
Hewitt explained, “I picked up the strain in the game in Coventry the weekend before and I’ve played through a little bit of pain. It was sore going into Sunday’s game, but the team were a little bit short and I didn’t want to let anyone down.”
