Phoenix sign Czech import forward as injury cover

Monday, 30th December 2013

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix have signed Czech forward Jaroslav Cesky as short term injury cover.

The experienced left winger has scored 33 points in his 27 games so far this season for Peterborough Phantoms.

Jaroslav first came to England in the 2009-10 season, signing for Bracknell Bees. He scored 53 goals and 66 assists in 53 games, leading to his selection for the League All Star starting team and was voted EPIHL player of the year. In 2011 he moved down the M4 to Swindon where he averaged more than a point a game. The following season, a short stint at Telford was followed by the majority of the season at Basingstoke, again averaging over a point a game. This season saw him move to Peterborough until his release just before Xmas.

Phoenix owner Neil Morris said:

“This is an important phase of the season. Tony and I were looking at options to cover for Frankie Bakrlik’s injury when the opportunity to bring in an experienced forward came up. I would like to thank Peterborough for their prompt action in releasing the paperwork during the holiday period. Once again, I would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to the Supporters’ club for their help in securing the player.”

Jaroslav should be available for tonight’s game against Milton Keynes Lightning.
