J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix will play the Great Britain under 20 squad at the Altrincham Ice Dome on Thursday 6th December, face off 7pm.
The game has been arranged to give Andre’s GB squad a valuable practice match before they head off to take part in the Under 20 World Championships Division 1 Group B tournament in the Ukraine. The GB squad will play hosts Ukraine, Croatia, Italy, Kazakhstan and Poland in a round robin series between 10th and 16th December.
Andre’s squad is made up predominantly of current EPL players but includes six players on Elite League team’s books and two who are playing in the USA.
The match is sure to be entertaining with plenty of goals with players such as Luke Ferrara (Peterborough), Ross Venus (Coventry Blaze) and Aaron Connolly (Slough) up front for the young guns.
Phoenix coach Tony Hand said: “This will be a good run out for the GB squad before they fly out to the World Championships. I hope the Phoenix fans will take this opportunity to see the up and coming talent we have in this country.”
Coach Payette also commented: “I am looking forward to testing my side against what is, in my opinion, the best team in the EPL. It will be good to see how well we do against such an experienced side. I would like to thank Manchester Phoenix for helping us out before we go to the Championships.”
All proceeds will go to the Manchester Phoenix Community Sports Foundation.
