J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix head coach Tony Hand has announced his on-ice captains for the new season.
Defender Luke Boothroyd retains the Captain’s arm band for another season. Forward James Archer retains an Assistant Captain’s role and the second A has been given to forward Tom Duggan.
Coach Hand commented: “Luke is a senior man at the club and he is ideal for the Captain’s role. He is steady, dependable and rarely gets ruffled by situations. He commands respect in the locker room and is a popular guy in the squad. He did a fantastic job last season and I had no hesitation asking him to lead the team again this year. James too, grew into the Assistant role last season. He has been in the league for about 10 years now and he relishes the job. Tom is in his third season with us and a very popular young man who is maturing all the time. He shows good leadership qualities and I am positive he will be an asset to the club in the role. All three are great on and off the ice for the club.”
Tom had this to say about the appointment: “I am honoured to be appointed the A by coach Hand. The team has many experienced players in the locker room and to be considered for the job is a great personal boost to me. It bodes well for the team and the EPL that three British players have the appointments this season. Players like Robert are obvious leaders and I am sure I will learn from him and others this season.”
