Slough Jet home with the extra point

Manchester Phoenix 3 Slough Jets 4 (OT)

Exciting first period with Phoenix taking the game to the Jets. With 7:27 gone James Neil scored on a delayed penalty assisted by Tony Hand. 4 minutes later JuraJ Faith sneaked in from the right, taking a pass from Tony Hand to slide the puck past Rockman in the Slough goal. Goalie Stephen Fone was credited with the second assist. Slough have the most potent offence in the league and showed their mettle with 2 goals in less than a minute, Darius Pliskauskis and Ryan Watt the scorers.

Slough had the puck in the Phoenix net half way through the second period but it was ruled out by referee Wardell. The puck was kicked into the net. Great end to end period of hockey with the scores even. There is a lot going on behind the puck tonight and Mr Wardell is doing a good job of keeping it clean. End of the second period and the score remained at 2-2.

Slough started the better early in the third and took the lead for the first time with 42:01 on the clock as Pliskauskis hit his second of the game. A minute later, with Phoenix serving a delay of game penalty, Coach Hand had a great chance to equalise but brought a fantastic save from Rockman. They were not to be denied and a superb breakaway short -handed goal by Slava Koulikov made it 3-3. No further goals in the period and the game went to overtime.

Unfortunately for Phoenix a rather harsh penalty on Juraj Faith with 22 seconds left in the game meant the team would be a man down for the crucial first part of the overtime period. Slough took advantage of the extra man and Davies was all alone at the back post to score the winner and give the extra point to the Jets.

Great game of hockey tonight and a good effort by the team. Next week they travel to Swindon on Saturday and have a home game on Sunday against the Bracknell Bees face off 17:30.
