Last night more than two hundred ice-hockey fans, sponsors and media packed into Manchester's Britannia Hotel for the unveiling of the 2009-10 Season Manchester Phoenix playing shirts.
Hosted by owner Neil Morris, the event marked the official countdown to the club's first season in the English Premier League and gave eager fans the opportunity of placing advance orders for the shirts and a chance to meet some of this season's team including British players Ben Wood, Carl Graham and Adam Summerfield, and Canadian Andre Payette.
Commenting upon the shirts, Andre Payette (already a much talked about summer signing despite not yet hitting the ice in Phoenix colours) said:
"I love the detailing, especially on the Cup shirt, and can't wait to lace up the skates, pull on the shirt and get the season underway. I'm confident that we're going have some fun, play some entertaining hockey and give the fans something to cheer about. It would be great if we could also pick up some silverware."
Fans were also treated to an advance preview of the Trafford Metros (English National League) playing shirts worn by team members Jake Nurse and Brian Worral both of whom couldn't wait for the opportunity of wearing the more traditional "old school" design of the home shirt.
