Manchester Phoenix will be without Canadian winger Sean Starke for both this weekends games as he has returned to Canada to be with his seriously ill father.
The 27-year old from Montreal received news from his mother late on Thursday evening that his father had been admitted to hospital and he immediately asked the club if he could fly home to be with his family.
A Phoenix spokesperson commented, “We understand that Sean’s’ father has been ill for some time, but it appears his condition has taken a turn for the worse. Whilst it’s disappointing to lose him from the games this weekend at least, in a situation like this family matters override sport. Sean has flown back to Canada this morning and we hope that his return helps boost his father. Our feelings go with him that his fathers’ situation can improve.”
Starke has scored 18 goals and 30 assists in 54 appearances for the Phoenix this season.
