Despite a tremendous response in the run-up to Christmas and New Year, including the donations made by Manchester Phoenix players, the National Blood Service are desperate for more blood donors or people willing to give blood to come forward.
With recent 'flu bugs reaping havoc across the country at this time, the NBS stocks have been stretched even further than normal at this their busiest time of the year.
A spokeslady for the NBS told the Phoenix website, "we're tremendously grateful for the donations from the Phoenix and their supporters who have given blood too. But, we need more and urgently. We are asking as many people as possible to please consider giving blood as stocks are running dangerously low. Our city centre clinic at Norfolk House - to the rear of Spring Gardens - is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm and we will be very grateful for every donation we can get."
Phoenix supporters wishing to give blood who can't get into city centre Manchester can ring 0845 7711711 to find details of an alternative or more convenient clinic.
